When a neighbour saw Mike's candle she loved it so much that she begged him to sell the candle to her instead. With the money he made from the first candle, Mike bought enough wax to make one for his mother and more to sell. Mike began producing candles in larger quantities as neighbours continued to express their interest and the Yankee Candle business really took off from there.
